BCE
provided the structural design for this 300' long
conveyor along with numerous other conventional
conveyors. A tapered truss consisting of single
angle web members and structural tee chords supports
the stacker conveyor. The bracing for the main
tower is configured with a moment framed opening
to allow passage of the truss, large horizontal
thrusts from belt pull and seismic forces are
resisted at an A-Frame on the lower end. The "cable"
stays are 8" dia. Pipes with strake plates.
The response spectrum method was used for seismic
design.
