Situated on a working ranch, with the Beartooth mountain range majestically filling the background, sits a unique art center called Tippet Rise. BCE Structural is proud to have teamed up with CTA Architects in their quest to design a building that would serve as the backdrop for a famous sculptor’s on-site commission.
The challenge: to replicate a late 1800’s one room Montana schoolhouse that would provide relative protection inside for a sculpture created from saplings.
The result: a brand new 100 year old deteriorated looking schoolhouse with all the characteristics of being beaten by the weather for the last century. A facility that was recently presented an Honorable Mention at the American Institute of Architects Montana Chapter’s Excellence in Design Awards ceremony.
