Old Faithful Inn – Yellowstone National Park, WY

Design Team: A&E Architects, ACE
Owner: Xanterra Parks & Resorts, National Park Service
Completion Date: 2012

This national historic landmark is located in Yellowstone National Park, one of the most extreme seismic and snow load areas in the United States. Originally designed by architect Robert Reamer and constructed in 1903-1904, the Old Faithful Inn is an impressive and expansive wood structure consisting of both intricate log work and stick-frame construction. BCE engineers accepted the intriguing challenge of completely upgrading the "Old House" portion of the main building with all of the new structure completely hidden from the millions of tourists that visit each year.  The massive stone fireplace was completely restored and now burns 6 fires in the fall and spring, and the entire wood structure has been stabilized for seismic and snow loads.
