The Northwestern Energy headquarters building will be an iconic structure in historic uptown Butte, MT. Additionally, the owner is pursuing LEED Gold status, which will be somewhat unique within the community. The building structure is seven stories total with two stories below grade. The foundation system is a three foot deep concrete reinforced mat slab to deal with variable soil conditions and mining operations far below the building site. A very efficient structural steel system provides for large expanses of glazing and brick veneer with a mixture of steel braced frames and moment frames as the lateral system.
