The Missoula Federal Credit Union on Russell Street is a single story financial institution building. The project has achieved national notoriety as the “first structure in the world where all concrete is made of 100% recycled content,” containing fly ash and recycled glass aggregate. With BCE’s help, the building owners have been awarded a LEED Platinum Certification.
Structural insulated panel (SIP) walls and an extensive array of solar panels cover the drive-thru banking lanes. BCE worked with Montana State University research laboratories to specify a minimum of 35% and up to 100% fly ash concrete mix. We also held educational meetings with the construction team, including the concrete supplier, concrete finisher, and general contractor, on how to best use the 100% fly ash concrete with recycled glass and recycled brick aggregate.
