Garlington, Lohn & Robinson Law Building – Missoula, MT

Design Team: OZ Architects, Jackson Contractor Group
Owner: Garlington, Lohn & Robinson
Completion Date: 2011

The GLR building is one of only a few facilities in Missoula to have achieved LEED Gold status. Not only did it incorporate a green design, but it also placed high priority on sustainability and cost efficiency. This multi-use facility has retail on the main level, office space on the floors above, and storage in the full size, 15 foot deep basement.

The structure utilizes a Special Concentrically Braced Frame/Special Moment Frame lateral force resisting system. Built in a zero-lot-line condition, our engineers had to figure out how to build the deep basement while supporting the buildings, sidewalks, and streets that surround it. Close coordination and staged design with the builder allowed for the use of mobile cranes in lieu of the tower crane common for this kind of tight lot building and multi-story construction. This effort saved the owner some serious dollars during construction.
