St. Paul's United Methodist Church

Location: Helena, MT
St. Paul's church is comprised of a large sanctuary space with an attached meeting building. The sanctuary walls are tall 12" CMU construction with open web joists bearing at the roof. There are two long-span steel girder trusses that run the length of the center of the space.

BCE provide full service Structural Engineering for this neighborhood Catholic church in Missoula. The main roof structure included long span glu-lam trusses with skewing and sloping, side glu-lam trusses. Lateral was justified using perimeter wood shearwalls. A full basement allows for meeting rooms and other ancillary activity. |

John Paul II Catholic Church
Location: Big Fork, MT
Client: OZA Architects, Missoula, MT

BCE provided full service for this large Catholic church in Big Fork, MT, which incorporated two separate churches. The main roof and wings were structured with glu-lam trusses and SIP panels. The trusses bear on steel columns buried in stone piers. The main floor structure consisted of concrete topping on metal decking on steel joist and beams. Lateral forces were resisted with wood framed shearwalls. |
